This is a question that we are very happy to answer. At a first glance it may appear a rather vague, if not trivial question, but is infact the foremost question that must be posed prior to deciding upon the ideal location, orientation and configuration of our four legged friends home. Bear in mind that our main objective is for your dog to live well, within a nice enclosure, not for him to simply survive. To reach this objective we must simply ask ourselves some questions, putting ourselves in our four legged friends place when we answer, and choose where we would like to live for a full year: Where would Spot like to live when it is raining? (we are often asked for enclosures with no cover) When its raining and windy? (a roof without lateral shelter is not much use). When its very sunny? (the shade of an insulated panel gives the same sensation as being under the shade of a tree) When its cold? (undoubtedly in the Highlands he would like an insulated house with heated flooring) During a sunny November afternoon? (he certainly would not want to be forced to stay in the shade) It is therefore very important to take into consideration the local climate, as an enclosure in the Scottish Highlands will obviously differ from one in Brighton, and also be different from one erected in Bristol or Birmingham. The presence of a plant can influence the placing of an enclosure, as its shade, whilst being very useful during the summer is not so during the winter, the only suitable ones are those with caducous leaves. | ||
